    Is Wix HIPAA Compliant?

    Short Answer

It can be, with conditions. Wix says sites built on the Wix Editor or Wix Studio Editor can be HIPAA compliant on qualifying plans, after you activate PHI protection and sign Wix's Business Associate Agreement. Several features are restricted, and compliance still depends on how you set up and use the site.

    What Wix Says

Wix's help center describes a setting called PHI protection.

    • It is available on the Business, Plus, Elite, Business Elite and Enterprise plans
    • You activate it on desktop, from the HIPAA Compliance section of the Compliance, Privacy and Cookies page
    • You can sign the BAA only after PHI protection is active
    • Wix recommends not collecting protected health information until both steps are done

    What Is Covered

    • HIPAA-compliant hosting
    • Apps that Wix lists as HIPAA-compliant
    • HIPAA-compliant Wix Inbox channels
    • Tools for handling visitor data requests

Limits to Know Before You Rely on It

    • Facebook and Instagram channels must be disconnected from Wix Inbox
    • Forms built with the older Wix Forms must be deleted and rebuilt with the new Wix Forms
    • Third-party apps are your responsibility, and Wix cannot guarantee their compliance
    • Wix warns that booking notes may violate HIPAA and suggests using contact notes instead
    • If you cancel a qualifying plan, protection ends after 30 days
    • Collaborators may be able to see patient information, so permissions need to be kept tight

How It Compares With an All-in-One HIPAA Plan

If your site is on Wix and you only need a compliant website and forms, PHI protection may be enough. If you also want your CRM, booking, payments and follow-up under the same BAA, compare it with the HIPAA website builder in Aspire Builder Pro.
